Rama Ramakrishnan Joins Dynadec's Technical Advisory Board
Noted Analytics Entrepreneur and MIT Professor Will Provide Expert Advice to Fast-Growing Software Company
Providence, R.I., June 12, 2009 – Dynadec, a developer of next-generation optimization solutions that maximize enterprises’ decision-making abilities, today announced the appointment of Rama Ramakrishnan to its Technical Advisory Board (TAB). He joins distinguished Dynadec TAB members Yves Deville, professor of computing science and engineering at the Université Catholique de Louvain, Belgium; Michel Goemans, professor of applied mathematics at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT); and George Nemhauser, professor of industrial and systems engineering at the Georgia Institute of Technology.
Ramakrishnan is an expert in the field of operational analytics, with more than 15 years of experience in applying analytics to business problems across a range of industries. Prior to joining the faculty of MIT’s Sloan School of Management, where he is now a senior lecturer, Ramakrishnan was chief scientist and vice president of research at price optimization software firm ProfitLogic, where he pioneered the development of techniques for optimally pricing and promoting seasonal and fashion-sensitive merchandise for retailers. After ProfitLogic was acquired by Oracle in July 2005, Ramakrishnan became chief scientist and vice president of analytic R&D for Oracle's Retail Global Business Unit. Earlier in his career, Ramakrishnan was founder and principal of Profit Sciences, an analytics consulting firm, and an engagement manager at McKinsey & Company. He holds a B.S. in Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Madras and M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Operations Research from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
"Rama brings world-class technical and business expertise to Dynadec,” said Christian Heidelberger, Chairman of Dynadec. “His background in analytics and operations research and his wealth of scientific and entrepreneurial experience will enhance the company’s efforts as we continue to develop and market our groundbreaking optimization offerings.”
Dynadec develops software solutions that enable enterprises to solve even the most complex problems and maximize their dynamic decision-making ability. Dynadec’s solutions are built on its proprietary Comet™ platform, and allow organizations to tackle operational challenges far more efficiently and effectively than previously possible.
“Optimization when the environment is predictable is one thing,” said Rama Ramakrishnan. “Doing so when your business operations are subject to increasing uncertainty is something else. Existing optimization tools aren’t capable of meeting this challenge effectively and that's precisely why I am excited about joining Dynadec’s technical advisory board. Dynadec’s optimization platform, Comet, represents the next-generation of optimization technology and is unparalleled in its ability to optimize complex business operations while taking uncertainty into account in a powerful way. With Comet, uncertainty is no longer something to be feared; it is something to be exploited.”
