Dynadec Founder Honored by Association for the Advancement of Artificial Intelligence
Preeminent Industry Association Recognizes Pascal Van Hentenryck’s Pioneering Contributions to Operations Research
Providence, R.I., June 15, 2009 – Dynadec, a developer of next-generation optimization solutions that maximize enterprises’ decision-making abilities, today announced that founder and chief technology officer Pascal Van Hentenryck has been elected as a Fellow of the Association for the Advancement of Artificial Intelligence (AAAI). Van Hentenryck will be honored for his significant contributions to constraint satisfaction and reasoning under uncertainty, the development of the widely used CHIP, Numerica, OPL, and Comet systems, and his pioneering role in the inception of constraint programming and its integration in operations research.
AAAI is a nonprofit scientific society devoted to advancing the scientific understanding of the mechanisms underlying thought and intelligent behavior and their embodiment in machines. Through its work, the organization aims to increase public understanding of artificial intelligence, improve the teaching and training of AI practitioners, and provide guidance for research planners and funders on the importance and potential of current AI developments and future directions.
Dynadec’s business decision optimization solutions are built on the proprietary Comet™ platform and enhance traditional strategic planning and BPM with the world’s first predictive model to produce the best possible solutions faster than ever previously possible. Van Hentenryck’s patent-pending dynamic stochastic technology extends the power of Comet by incorporating probabilistic data into real-time decision making, and the company is now using the platform to develop complete turnkey optimization solutions for vehicle routing, workforce management and resource scheduling in the dynamic enterprise.
Van Hentenryck will be formally recognized at a ceremony during the 2009 International Joint Conference on Artificial Intelligence on July 14th in Pasadena, CA.
“Pascal has worked very hard to commercialize the groundbreaking technology he helped invent in the lab, and Dynadec is the successful result of that effort,” said Christian Heidelberger, Chairman of Dynadec. “That we have been able to transition his work from science and academia and apply it to solve real industrial problems is a testament to his dedication to the commercial advancement of artificial intelligence.”
