Dynadec Announces Licensing Agreement with Zuse Institute Berlin
Leading Optimization Software Company Will Resell Institute’s MIP Solver Powered by Dynadec’s Comet Technology
Providence, R.I., September 8, 2009 – Dynadec, a developer of next-generation optimization technology, today announced that it has entered into a license agreement with Zuse Institute Berlin (ZIB), a leading European research institute for applied mathematics and computer science. The agreement allows Dynadec to embed ZIB’s SCIP constraint integer programming solver into the Comet optimization platform.
Even without using its advanced capabilities, SCIP is one of the world’s fastest mixed integer programming (MIP) solvers. A framework for Constraint Integer Programming, SCIP is oriented towards the needs of mathematical programming experts who want to have total control of the solution process and access detailed information at the solver level.
Dynadec was founded by optimization industry pioneer Pascal Van Hentenryck. The company offers solutions based upon the Comet platform, the world's most comprehensive software environment for solving complex optimization problems. Comet combines the methodologies used for constraint programming, constraint-based local search, and dynamic stochastic combinatorial optimization. Its hybrid optimization capabilities and native parallelism represent a significant technical breakthrough for the industry.
“We are pleased to collaborate with Dynadec to extend the reach of our world class CIP solver,” said Thorsten Koch of ZIB. “It is our hope that Dynadec, with its unique Comet technology, will be able to utilize the whole potential of next-generation hybrid optimization. We think that the market will benefit greatly from the relationship we have created.”
“SCIP is one of the most powerful CIP solvers available, and provides an innovative framework for solving extremely complex problems,” said Pascal Van Hentenryck, Dynadec CEO. “By introducing a new Comet-enabled SCIP solver to the market, we can provide advanced capabilities to those developers that need to solve MIP-based or hybrid models to generate high quality solutions.”
